EnglishRacing Drag X 1199whp 8385 Gen 2 59psi

Been meaning to post the dyno sheet of the Drag X for awhile but finally got a day I can sit down and do some forum posting. The X has gone thru many changes over the season and even managed to reset the record to an 8.56 at WCF (Import vs Domestic) in Maryland this past November. Unfortunately on that pass one of the couplers gave up the ghost around the 1100 ft mark so the both the e.t. and mph suffered since it wasnt a full 64psi pass. Trap dropped to 158 vs the 8.59 being consistent above 172mph.

Car-

EnglishRacing Aluminum rod 2.0L
GRP aluminum rods
Stock Crank
Wiseco Top fuel pistons
Magnus sheetmetal intake manifold
Stock port head (yes you read that correctly)
GSC S3 camshafts
GSC springs/valves
Fuel Injector Clinic 2150s
EnglishRacing mechanical fuel pump bracket
Aeromotive red mechanical pump
M880 Motec
GRAF 5 speed dogbox
Competition Clutch triple disc kit
E80 (80% E98, 20% C16)
ETS custom sidewinder turbo kit
ETS 6" FMIC and custom piping
Magnus DBW TB

Between low timing and spinning on the dyno, the graph isnt as smooth as I'd like to see but the results at 59psi speak for themselves -

Mods for the coming year will include an M150 Motec so we can switch to x8 injectors and methanol like the rest of our drag cars.

Uncorrected for those that will inevitably ask -

Pix from 2016

Still the highest power, quickest, and fastest Evo X in the world. Hoping to see more drag built X's in 2017

Aaron

What a monster. Excuse my username. Respect is given.

What block was used? Is it o-ringed? How do you hold the head down at 60+ psi?

Golden Eagle sleeved block. Non O-ringed. We built it like a Honda and it worked very well.

Your user name is fine, if we had gone to 59psi on the Drag 8 vs the Drag X it would have made more with an 11mm smaller turbo. As it was that car took the record away from the Drag X by 6+ mph so the 4G63 is still the king in my mind. It does however have some strong back up in the X as the next motor in line.

Mad props. Is there any further plans? Or is this capped?

Bigger turbo? More stroke? Less boost? More bore?

ive bin doing research on the magnus sheet metal manifold over other options like the SSP intake manifold. they say you need to remove or relocate the power steering to get this to fix. how do you work around that? looking for an all around car so keeping power steering is mandatory but damn that thing is beautiful.

We have been out to 64psi but wont be pushing it further on the dyno most likely. As much as we want to see a 1200hp pull, this is a race engine with a short life expectancy, nothing we want to use up on a dyno not doing something cool.

S3s are not currently available but I will let you know when we have them on the store. We will be the only source of the camshafts. The mechanical I do not happen to have any pictures of and the car has left for the PRI show in Indy. It will be after the 1st of the year before I have the car back to get some fresh pics taken.

There is no work around, this is a race only piece. The options in the pipe would be to use a Toyota MR-S electric power steering pump and wire that in. We havent attempted that yet so not sure what would be required, I have seen it done on 8/9s in the past however.
