Need help, headlights wont turn on, factory HIDs
Need help, headlights wont turn on, factory HIDs
my headlights wont turn on normally anymore. i can jump the terminal to get them to power on though, i did it this morning to get to work.
I've tracked it down but unsure how to repair it.
The relay no longer clicks because the prong that's supposed to turn to ground when you turn the headlight switch no longer does anything, preventing to complete the circuit. My question is how do I fix this? All the fuses and relays are good. Unless there are some else where I don't know about...
also i took it into the dealership which i purchased the car and added the extended bumper to bumper warranty to have them take a look at it.
i get a call back saying that my entire HID/headlight setup (factory) needs to be replaced because the ballasts and filaments on BOTH are bad. I tell the service adviser guy who Im dealing with that theres no way because I jumped the relay this morning to have the headlights on, and that its not the headlights themselves. we go back and forth and they say the only way to fix it is to replace the whole setup ($1200 +) and they said they already tried locating the parts and cant find them.
so now im wondering, if ANYONE is familiar with the wiring/electrical setup with the factory HID, can this be true? i find it extremely hard to believe.
why would my entire headlight setup, both sides, need to be replaced when I can jump the relay terminals to get them to work? the issue is the terminal that is supposed to turn to a ground to, complete the circuit, when the headlight switch is turned on does nothing.
oh and they are also saying if its not a relay, fuse or switch then it is not covered under the warranty.
really need some advice....

One way to do it is trace the wires all the way. If all wires and harnesses are okay, move to the switches and switch connections. Also, if its extended warranty, maybe find a less butthole dealership.
I think i have a similar problem.
Haven't tried jumping the terminal? not sure what that means.
But i have to literally sit there and switch on and off on and off again and again the lights to get both of them working. The left side works almost all the time. Once they're on 0 problems.

took it to a different dealership last night. well see how it goes. from my research i think the column switch is faulty.
I'm not 100% sure on this but I had this problem with faulty aftermarket HID ballasts on a different car before.
