Installing SWI-PS

I'm trying to install an aftermarket steering wheel control adapter, SWI-PS, into my Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart 2011 but I am getting a 0 volt measurement from pin 22 of the car harness(Harness c-16 from the Outlander http://www.mitsu-wiki.com/wiki/Secon..._Stereo_Wiring) when plugged into a aftermarket stereo. This is the non Rockford Fosgate system. If I use the OEM radio I do get a 3 volt measurement along pin 22.

The aftermarket harness(I think it was Metra) that I'm currently using does not have any connections in the following pins: 22, 23, 24, 31, 32, 33, 34. I have grounded pin 32 which is the steering wheel control negative. And I have unhooked the OEM bluetooth module.

1. Is pin 22 used as a input to the stereo? As in, does the OEM radio read the voltage changes along pin 22 to perform steering wheel controls?
2. Why am I getting 0 voltage along pin 22 when using an aftermarket radio? Is another pin required to power the steering wheel controls?
3. What are the CAN BUS wires used for(pin 23 and pin 33)? Are these required?

I used the exact same kit for my non-RF system swap. I had no issues (i followed the instructions).

I say that to say - check your connections. Did you solder or use crimp connectors?

What brand aftermarket radio are you installing?

If I had to guess, I'd say the factory RF supports steering wheel controls from the factory so it has voltage.
sounds like the metra harness
doesn't support it? I just used a power, ground, acc and signal for my switch.

CAN BUS is for diagnostics/obd2 functions, you don't need it

Thanks for feedback guys.

I'm pretty confident on my connections and I have checked them multiple times with a continuity check. I'm also able to measure a voltage along my crimp connection when using the OEM radio, so I'm pretty sure my connections are fine.

I have another harness shipping on the way but I ordered it in hopes to repin my current harness with any of the missing pins.

Any other ideas?

all you need is power/ground/acc and remote lead, you're really doing this the hard way!

I wish I could do this the easy way.

I have used the power, ground and remote lead but the problem is that I get a 0 voltage measurement along the remote lead wire with the aftermarket stereo. There's no point for me to connect the SWI-PS because it auto turns off because it does not detect a voltage along it's white wire.

I did a little more investigation and found this diagram:

I could be wrong but it looks like the OEM headunit provides the voltage along pin 22 to the steering wheel controls. But I still got a 0 voltage when I measured my steering wheel wire that comes out of my aftermarket radio.

My current idea is to maybe use a 12 volt wire and a resistor and attach that to pin 22. I would have to find the right resistance and such. Let me know what you guys think.
