Hi Everyone... I'm new to this forum and very new to "tuning," per se... particularly with a car as advanced as my Evo X MR... I was reading the info on the Accessport, and noticed that it said that the Accessport base map is ONLY for cars with a stock CAI... at this point, this is my only upgrade (AEM CAI), and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Accessport from COBB... should be here on Monday!!! Does this mean that I can't use it with my CAI, or is there something I can do / can be done to adjust for the CAI?

Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated!

You need to go back to stock unless you plan on a pro tune with the AP.

Just found this for the Stage 1 93 octane:

Additional modifications such as an under drive pulley or panel filter are still
within the acceptable modifications for this calibration. YOU MUST USE THE FACTORY
INTAKE SYSTEM, NO AFTERMARKET INTAKES ARE CERTIFIED COMPATIBLE WITH THIS CALIBRATION.
Best if used with 49 state 93 and 94 octane. If any knock or detonation is present
even when using 49 state 93 or 94 octane, try using octane booster.
Then I found this in the same map notes:

Hardware such as drop-in panel
filters, intakes, & exhaust systems with catalytic converters can skew the MAF sensor
signal and/or create a dangerously lean fuel curve. This calibration has been
established to run with the stock intake system using the stock intake filter only.
If I am reading it right they both say NO aftermarket intakes but in one sentence it says drop in filters are OK and the other says they are not?

I have an AEM CAI and have flashed the ECU with the Stage 1 with 91 octane (we get 92 here in WA). I know I probably shouldn't be doing this, but I'm waiting to get my dynoflash custom map from Al (hopefully next week). So far so good, the car drives fine *knock on wood*, however, granted that I haven't pushed the car beyond 4000 RPM.

Given Cobb's Stage 1 maps are probably conservative, and the fact that I have 92 gas, I'm hoping the A/F ratio hasn't leaned out too much.

What I'm more worried about is this new boost finding in the zchip thread regarding the AEM CAI in particular.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=385746

If their finding is true, then all mail-in off-the-shelf reflashes with the AEM CAI bolt-on can potentially be less than effective performance-wise.

Keep in mind the AEM CAI leans out the AFR by almost a full point on a stock factory tune.

Took mine out for for a few minutes. There is a noticeable difference in power. I was hoping to use it as a boost gauge temporarily, but it seems to be maxing out at 18.29 psi. I'll probably get it tuned at Cobb in Plano if they will do it in AP Race format.

From what I understand Race is for DIY. Pro is what a tuner would use. Pro locks the map to protect the Intellectual Property of the Pro tuner. Maybe an individual tuner like KevinD would be willing to tune with Race, but I doubt the Cobb Plano shop would use Race.

Note that is 18.xx PSI absolute - or a little over 3 PSI of boost. it is also maxing out hte display for Calculated Mass Airflow - see my post above for actual numbers.

I think the map notes say it should be 25 psi tapper to 15 i think.

Found it, 24 to 17. I guess we have to adjust the WGA arm, i think. That's what i understand.

Cobb has said Tuners have the choice of saving to Race format so the user can modify the map they payed for. It's the Tuner's choice, and I hope Cobb wouldn't lock me down.

I have private message from Rob at Cobb saying the HKS drop in filter is fine to use with the 91 OCT map for the MR!

What intake do you have and what octane fuel do you use ? I am working very quicklly on supporting as many parts as I can with email maps.

100% correct you can use any drop in filter with the stock calibrations as a drop in filter has no effect on the air flow sensor reading. However a intake change often requires remaping.
