Suggestions for Access Port Evo X Install and Use

We are currently installing an Access Port Evo X and ran through some minor things

First of all you get what youy pay for Cobb Tech Support is 100% amazing - always easy to get someone on the phone

First step - update the newest firmware updater from this page http://www.cobbtuning.com/info/?ID=3874

Second step - do a beta update using the uploaded updater while your lap top is connected on line - this will get you the most up to date firmware

Third step - when first installing you can skip - and I recomend that you skip saving the stock program - (it takes a half hour to save it). They have the stock map alreday saved on the AP so anytime you un-install its automatically reverted back to stock. If your super worried and want to upload the stock program anyway - you MUST connect a battery charger - jump box or use jumper cables fom another car while you are saving your stock map and then uploading the supplied Cobb Maps - otherwise the voltage may drop and corrupt your data. if you do this dont worry as their is a friendly recovery mode to save your ***.

Since the fans run while its flashing and since it takes a long time a battery charger is 100% needed is you want to save the data and then upload the new map at the same time (dont ask me how I found this out)

More suggestions later

Al

Hey AL, i did mine today too. And yes i had to update it. The first time i hook it up, i got a message saying it was not compatible.

I would say the backup of the stock map take more like 15 minutes not 30. It is even on the manual by the CD.

Al, there is a whole new market for you. Sell ProTune maps to folks who already have APs.

Thanks! I didn't realize there was already a FW update out.

Not sure I fully understand step 2 though.

I'll see if i can post some screens tomorrow. Is really easy to update.

From the Access Port Manager software that you get on the disc.

That is used to put the maps on the AP.

Then there's and Assess Port Updater.

That one is to update the AP. Just install it, wait for it to ask to connect assess port and the rest is pretty easy.

A friendly reminder to remember to plug the fan connector back in when you are done

This is getting exciting!
Any idea if I can edit the saved Ecutek map & save it as another file to cater for hardware upgrades?
