need some help on tuning options...
im kinda confused on the different routes on tuning. can someone give me a quick list of the different tuning options. from what i know(correct me if im wrong) there is accessport, ecutek, openecu and standalone ecus.
i definitly think i want to get evoscan and i was curious if it will run on a macbook pro dual booted with xp pro?
the mods on my car are going to be intake, turboback, intercooler piping, a new ic at some point, cams, valve springs, head studs, injectors, fuel pump and fuel rail if i need but i want to stay on the stock turbo for now. i also want to learn about tuning and be able to log data myself that why i mentioned evoscan. if anyone has any good info for my setup that would be great.

ECUFlash (OpenPort 2.0)
Evoscan
Wideband O2
ECUTek is good but you have to get tuned by an authorized ECUTek dealer, leaving you no option to self tune.
AccessPort is nice but it's logging capability is very limited and slow. It does not allow you to hook up a wideband O2 to monitor your AFRs.
Standalone would be too difficult for someone with no experience in tuning.

alright so with the things you mentioned i would be able to have someone tune this on a dyno at a shop, road tune as well, and be able to learn and log my own data correct? do you know if ecuflash and evoscan will run on a macbook pro intel based laptop dual booted with xp pro?

with evoscan i think it will run under xp pro even on a macbook pro laptop. another question i have is if im going to have evoscan and ecuflash will i need two seperate cables for both of the programs or is there a universal USB to OBDII that I can use for both evoscan and ecuflash? if so can someone link me to it?
they both use a tactrix open port 2 cable. you will need a serial port on your laptop or a serial->usb adapter to log your wideband which will be a seperate connection from the OP2 cable
