Cobb AP help: New computer doesn't recognize when plugged in
Just bought a new computer (Sony VGC-LV1800J) which came with window vista, downloaded AP Manager and Updater files and wanted to transfer my existing maps on to the new computer. However, the computer would not recognize the Cobb AP when I plugged it in, it seems like it doesn't have the device driver installed so I tried to re-install the device driver manually by locating the file, it failed to do so with a system message with the message: Windows found the driver software for your device but encounter an error while installing it. The system cannot find the file specified.
On the Cobb AP screen, it doesn't have the connect button like it used to. Instead, it gives me all the options which you get when you plug it on the car. I tried plugging it back into my old labtop and everything works normal. Your help is appreciated! |
Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit?
CobbAP only works with windows XP!
not true. i run mine on vista with no issue
Make sure is 32bit, i have to run mine in my laptop under 32bit vista. My desktop is 64bit and it wont work correctly.
try using a different USB cable other than the one provided...
I need to dual boot my laptop in order to have my Haltech and Cobb tuning softwares to run. They do not work properly on any of the Vistas.

i am infact running 64bit. Is Cobb going to make a fix for this? or do I have to downgrade my vista to 32bti?
Try running the windows xp virtual machine (or something like that) so that you have a 32 bit environment for your AP.
good luck! |

If is a big company dont do it without IT permision, is not worth loosing your job over it. |
I replied to your message on the COBB Forums, but I will reply here as well. What the others have said is correct, we currently do not support the 64-bit Vista OS. With another version of Windows coming out in the very near future, we will be taking another look at updating our software for these new operating systems. We will make announcements as these updates become available.
