Should I sell my AP and just use the ECUtek stuff?

My goals are just about complete. I've ordered my IC, I have my UICP, my Drop in, my 3 port, my recirc BOV and depending on Innovate, a WB02. I love my AP and the ease of it, but to be quite honest, once the IC is installed, i'm going to do one last tune and that will be the end of my modding. I should have 330 or more whp or close to it (going by others with similiar mods). After the last tune, i'm not planning on messing with it much again, maybe a log here and there, but I have someone who helps me with the tuning and so the software for the AP or ECUtek or whatever it is is of no use to me. I just get the maps and flash them to my car.

I just thought maybe if I sold the AP I could get back a bit of cash. It's always been well taken care of, and I would come out ahead and pay down some of my other mod debts.

Golden knows i'm not the best with all of the tuning stuff. I'm not bad with computers as far as figuring things out though.

Just getting some ideas, as I said I love the AP and the ease of it, but honestly, once a map is flashed, I don't even keep it (the AP) in the car.

You mean OpenEcu / EcuFlash / OpenPort 2.0 stuff. Not ECUtek. That is something totally different.

yeah sorry... I couldn't remember which was which lol. A perfect example of how much I know!!!

But yes that's what I mean... isn't it cheaper to do it that way?

Yes, I sold my AP and purchased a Tactrix Cable, EvoScan and EvoScan Navigator and pretty much broke even. You don't need the Nav, but I like mine.

there have been many advances with ECUFLASH.....I would sell the AP

so how much extra was the nav... and what is it? Would you recommend that I sell the AP as well?

Definitely sell the AP. Pointless with ECUflash. Ecuflash actually gives you more options with the optional Tephra Mods (don't forget to donate).

Yup, AP was a competitor at first (kind of, it worked well but cost too much) but now ECUflash has left it in the dust again, dump it before people get smart and no one will buy them since they are paperweights.

With TephraMods, there is no reason to ever use the AP in my opinion now.

If you get the evoscan nav unit, you can even have the multiple roms to flash like the AP can. I don't think its available on the X for now though. I think its a WIP.

In other words, with the NAV unit, you have something a lot better than the AP for nearly the same price. Add to that the option to run gauges etc. Saves you a lot of money if you're looking to run all said features.

+1 for TephraMods and to sell the AP. Why tie one hand behind your back?

Golden Jun 22, 2010 08:51 AM

You can find the Nav unit on EvoScan.com

how much for cable and programs or whatever that I need?

TTP Engineering Jun 22, 2010 12:26 PM

Ecuflash is the way to go.

Golden Jun 22, 2010 04:06 PM

Tactrix.com has your cable. The software is free. EvoScan costs, unless you get the Nav, then it comes included.

Ok, so I need the cable obviously, and the software is free... Do I need Evoscan as well or is all I really need the cable and the free software?
