Any Evo x MR's tuned on E85?!?

I'm thinking about going corn fed! I just wanna to get some feedback on MR owners that are tuned for e85. The good? The bad? Is it a PITA? Any feedback would help.

Is there no one out there? I'm considering the switch myself and would also like some insight.

We've done a bunch.

Yes mike you have mentioned that. I wanted to get some perspective from other MR owners that got tuned on E85. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Kracka May 24, 2011 05:21 PM

It's a fairly common swap, Cobb even has AP OTS maps for it.

BakaUnchi May 24, 2011 06:53 PM

yep
be careful of TQ cause without a proper tune ittl eat clutches

Amazing feedback for the OP to work with.

To the OP: With proper tuning, it's just like running E85 on a GSR. I highly recommend E85 if you have it available. I have both my Mitsus on E85 and it's great fuel.

You do want proper tuning to keep the clutches and torque management of the SST happy. Not everyone can do this. In the bay area there was only one person currently who could.

Cobb did my e85 map; I couldn't be happier with the performance. Finding e85 can sometimes be a challenge, so take that into consideration.

What supporting mods did you have to do to go on E85?!? Didyou also have to upgrade your clutch packs?

Kracka May 25, 2011 02:24 PM

mrMTB has the stock clutches along with a stock airbox and [modified] stock catback. He also has the AMS downpipe + HFC.

He asked about what mods for E85 usage he had although the power mods list is also helpful.

I'd imagine injectors and fuel pump.

^^ are the stOck clutches are holding up pretty well with 390+lbs of torque?!?

fknchristoph May 25, 2011 02:36 PM

Nice lookkin e85 numbers on that MR.

I'm guessing upraged injectors of atleast 1000cc and a 255lph fuel pump for the fuel swap.

mrMTB May 26, 2011 06:45 PM

Stock clutches are handling it perfectly well. The mods for that were:

AccessPort
DW 800cc injectors
Blaqops Fuel Pump kit w/ Walboro 255lph pump
Grimspeed EBC
K&N Drop-In Filter
AMS O2 downpipe
AMS 200 cell cat
Modified stock cat-back

I do have the SSP shallow SST pan and front-mount cooler kit, but I only turn that on when I'm at the track.

For the minimal amount of modifications, I certainly could not be happier with the performance.
