P0102

my check engine light came on a few days ago and now my evo idles at 2000rpm. i got home and pulled code p0102. i erased it but it keeps coming back on. all i have on my evo is an hks drop in filter with 6390 miles on odometer. i heard there was faulty maf sensor on the evo x. could this be the problem?

MAF failure or just not getting enough air. My VW R32 did the same thing. Its annoying but didnt cause any probs. Kept the code checker in the car lol

No, what's happening is that they want to check your car for mods and a tune because of the new warranty policy from Mitsu. If the repair is over $4-500 then they have to get corporate approval for the repair which includes an inspection.

Since the MAF is like $600+ MSRP...

So you need to put your car back to stock before you take it to them.

I had this exact same issue happen to me 3 weeks ago. Check:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-your-car.html

At the end of the thread there is a post by me with an explanation of what happen and a pic. I picked up a new sensor (at a dealership) for $241 with tax ( It was 100 at Autozone if you give em your bad MAF, but there is a 3 day wait period).

Your luck it happened on a GSR; in my MR the tranny didn't want to shift, it would slip the clutch like crazy then engage with the force of a train hitting you.
