Intake or Drop In?

Hey guys, im just looking to see what your opinions are and/or share your experiences with an intake or drop in filter on the Evo X.

Im looking to either buy an intake or drop in really soon. As far as the intake, I have my eyes on the Apexi power intake systems and as far as a drop in, im lookin at the Cosworth drop ins. Thanks in advance guys!!

I had the perrin drop in and went to the HM intake. The sound is awesome, but I dont know if performance went up. Stock BOV sounds great after intake install. If you are untuned, it will lean you out a bit, which you will feel for sure.

There are better places to put your money than an intake. Drop in filters yield nearly the same gains. Aftermarket intakes on these cars is really more of a dress-up item unless you are running a larger than stock turbocharger.

Is an intake worthwhile on larger stock frame turbos (Green, Red, BBX)? Or, only on larger kit turbos? For a larger stock frame, what is the better option: CAI, SRI?

Our clubs independant test last year of the Works Drop in made power inline with their claims.

When it comes down to drop ins, filtration is the most important thing. I am sure you can go with Cosworth and achieve similar levels in power. Or you can stick with old school drop in makers like K&N. different materials used may have different results.

But anything is better then OEM stock

Power wise, for sure. Filtration wise, far from it. There's quite a few horror stories about MAF sensors going out mainly because of HKS filters and similar who basically prevent a bird flying in your turbo but nothing else...

Im running a afe dry filter with a cobb inlet.. i would go with a cone set up/cobb inlet for the money. My BOV/BPV isn't loud at all, i can hardley hear it...i took off my filter one day to see how loud it gets and it was very audible.. anyone know why? Does crushing it have to do with anything?
