just had it replaced yesterday... i guess the old style pump would burn out. I heard this new pump has a delay in it that lets fluid warm up first... i dont know how exactly that works but so far so good with this new pump.....im glad i got it done under warranty, this part is way expensive...$1550.00.....

Same exact problem. Service required light for S-AWC started coming on and off during normal driving. No other symptoms of a problem. Took the car to the dealer, and they said pump for all wheel drive system needed replaced. Dealer said do not drive the car more than a few miles a day. I said I needed a rental then, and after some complaining, they gave me one free of charge. Supposedly car will be ready anyday. Pump replaced under warranty.

i have the same problem i was gone to work for a few months car was sitting when i came back i was driving the car and the same thing happened service required light came on and the symbol for the awd poped up asc turned off but im sure it was off anyways bc i turn it off all the time but anyways turned car off and on a few more times light was gone for months dident think too much of it and i was gone to work again car was sitting again light came back again and this time stayed on until car was turned off but everytime i drove it afterwards light would come back took it to the dealer and they upgraded the ecu for the awd and ever since then the light was gone but the tarmac gravel and snow display will flash now and the little symbol for the acd (active center diff) will dissipear then a minute or less later it will stop flashing and the symbol for the center diff control will reappear and now it keeps doing this havent taking it to mitsubishi dealer yet after they upgraded the ecu with that cold weather upgrade which they did in the middle of summer lol but that obviously dident fix anything lol my conclusion is one of the solinoids on that awd pump is sticky or pump is faulty all electrical connections on the pump i took off and cleaned and greased with die electric grease service required light is gone but tarmac still flashes and center diff dissipears and then returns to normal .

had mine into mitsubishi dealer today and it was put on the scanner and apparently there is a code coming up saying there is a communication error between the ecu for the awd and the ecu for the car they are currently looking at replacing the ecu for the awd because thats what the scanner said to do waiting on a phone call from them to see if thats what they are going to do or if this problem is related to somthing else like a bad wire
