Mobil 1 5w-30 EP vs Mobil 1 0w-40 (Oil Analysis)

So if you think M1 oil isn't good enough for your EVO... here is proof. Everyone can run about 6000 miles on both oil daily driving.

For about $27 bucks @ Advance Auto Parts 5qts with filter. 0w-40 is a real bang for the buck.

Why do only European automakers use the 0W40 stock? It seems like the perfect grade for north america where there is a large variance in temperatures across the continent.

Does this apply to not stock cars? I see it says "strictly stock" for the 0w40 oil.

I run fully modded with almost all bolt on's. I did not add my mods to this analysis, the first one had all my mods.

The results from the 0w-40, were from a modded car. I say that you are more than fine to run 5000 miles to be on the safe side. I will bump up my interval to 5000 miles, since summer is a bit more harsh on the oil due to increased ambient temp.

Because the TBN is still very high for both oil as well as they only sheared down a grade. So a 30w oil is now a 20w and a 40w oil is now a 30w oil, so you can run the 40w oil for a longer interval until it starts to shear down to a 20w. Either way, these engine have high tolerance and a turbo which shear the oil down very fast. If you want more protection, which I doubt there is a need to spend more money on oil, you can go with Redline 0w-40, but will cost you double the price of M1, should hold off the shear better. I wanted to try German Castrol, but they do not sell it around me. So I am sticking to 0w-40 for now. I will send another oil analysis in 20k miles (~ 1 year driving for me).

Yes, but AMSoil is $50 + $10-$15 oil filter compared to M1 for $28 bucks with filter.

Again, these results are to show how the M1 holds up in the X. Not to say, which oil brand is better or worse. It's comparing the same brand two different oil types.

apagan...

if you want to create a thread to peddle amsoil, please do so. This is NOT the place to do it. This is not an "amsoil vs. other oils" thread...the OP was merely posting the results (which are quite good) for his Evo X running Mobil1.

NO. All the discussion of amsoil (by anyone in this thread) is OFF-TOPIC. Please read the title of the thread. And, it doesn't matter how much you pay as a vendor...EVERYONE on this forum must abide by the rules. End of story.

Like I said, if you want to create your own "amsoil vs. XYZ brand" thread, please do so. But, this is not the thread to discuss amsoil.
