stock clutch life
Hey guys
My stock clutch kicked the bucket last weekend... it had a little over 18k miles on it... i was as kind to the car i could possibly be, i mean i took it to the most hilly part of manhattan every day for school
Just wonder how long it was until your stock clutch started to slip and burn out

I had 55k miles when my stocker started to slip at higher boost/rpms (shortly after a cam install/retune). Shifts were still clean and I took care of it, always matching revs before letting it out, etc. I launched it a handful of times in 3 years, the only track it ran on were roadcourses.
I replaced it with a Fidanza 3.2 and am very happy.

1) you'll smell it
2) when you go into gear you engine will start rev-ing when you depress the gas and then the revs will drop and then you'll start moving*
3) worst case scenario you can't get moving from a dead stop which would suck
those are just a few that i've heard there are probably more
as for cost, i just got mine replaced for $1600 and it was done at the dealer, so now i have a brand new OEM clutch and flywheel... some after clutches cost that amount just for the assembly

My stock clutch went out around 18k miles, it sucked pretty bad, it was slipping in every gear, i replaced with a ACT HD street disc and fly and it feeels like what an evo should feel like now. cost for the kit + fly with labor $1800 good luck with your clutch buddy.
