What light does not having a cat trigger?

i got my car tuned by rre last week along w a test pipe and this evening pulling out of the movies i noticed that the service engine soon light was on...i drove around a bit and it still stayed on so i pulled the negative battery terminal and put it back and the light is now gone.

i know i need to pull the code to get an accurate reading if it comes back, but does the 'ses' light come on when you don't run a cat or does another light come on?

thx

did some reading, i guess code p420 is caused by not having a cat..which is the SES light.

so if this light is constantly on..wouldn't i need an obd2 scanner handy to check to make sure there aren't any other codes the car is throwing?
