as of late i've noticed a whine when i rev the car stopped in neutral between around 2,800-4,000 rpm. I also hear it when i'm in gear and driving between those rpm's regardless of speed.

the whine is coming from the left side of the motor where all the belts are. what do you think it can be? kind of sounds like when you have the a/c on, except the a/c is not on.

btw car has 2,600 miles on it.

so i'm guessing it's the power steering pump. are the pumps whiny on evo's?

Stop free-revving your engine. Evos are noisy cars, but if you're worried about it take it to the dealership and have it looked at, and if needed, repaired under warranty rather than having 100 people make 100 different guesses online.

even if your ac light is off when the selector is on defrost it turns it on , turn your fan completly off ,
pulleys,bearings and the belts always make noise
