Clutch smell after launch...

Clutch smell after launch...
I have 4k miles on my car and HARDLY abuse it…my friends often tease me for buying an Evo since I never push the car. Going home on Saturday night I launched it, well tried launching it for the first time. Turned off all TC’s and attempted somewhat of a launch, but there was a lot of wheel spin so I just let off the gas and went home. As expected, there was a strong smell of clutch. I took the car out the next day and there was still the smell of clutch…and this morning going to work I could still smell the clutch.
Is the car still burning off clutch residue or do I have a serious issue? I did some tests to see if the clutch is slipping but it seemed fine and doesn’t slip through acceleration.

smell should go away soon. If you burnt it enough to get smell for more than a few hours, I'd expect the clutch to die in a few months since you managed to scorch your flywheel. start saving for a new one

Evos are notorious for that. In all three of the ones I have had, that smell is inevitable. I had to sit on a ramp at the Superdome in the X and a guy was on my *** so when it was time to inch up and try to get to the top kinda had to ride the clutch a little and the smell was AWFUL. Lingered for awhile. No big thing.

i never launched mine. someone else at the dealership did before i bought it. clutch was toast at 3k miles with ONE huge blue hotspot on the flywheel. I used to drag race other cars, and I never had clutch smell for more than a couple hours after a full day at the strip (even with factory mitsubishi clutches)
It's not how often you launch it. It's how you do it. And yes, the evo clutches are weak. When you replace it, just get an aftermarket clutch and be done with it.
