Keep us posted. Glad to hear about someone that's fighting the good fight.

I think we should start a fund of some kind dedicated to paying for legal services for those justifiably fighting voided warranties. A couple bucks here and there could add up to something. I'd donate if it was legit.

Theres no need for this, that is why I stated that you guys need to do some research on what is out there to protect us as a consumer.

I usually stay out of this argument, but mightybee you need to do a little more searching. The law only helps if you're willing to take Mitsu to court. There are plenty of stories on this forum where the member has shown this legislation to Mitsu only to have Mitsu argue and not pay claims.

Your assumption that Mitsu is following Moss Magnuson, or is even willing to, isn't really accurate. There's at least one post from a guy who took Mitsu to court and won but admitted he ended up spending as much on lawyers and court fees as he ended up winning back from Mitsu.

Sometimes things don't work the way they're supposed to.

^^ I can tell you that mighybee does know what he is talking about. I had the same issue with a warranty claim and they did cover it. The claim will stop at the point where you let it stop, there are many steps to take so it can get covered BEFORE you take them to court.

your statement is a hear say like most on here so you cant speak from experience.

Please show me where you claim says that it will only work if you are willing to take them to court.

Here's the situation: i get denied for mods. It's bs. I show them the paper saying they're supposed to prove that my tcase is damaged due to mods. They then say that base flash = more power, = more stress on drivetrain = leaking tcase. This is bs, but the only way for me to win is to sue and pay the lawyer. Not worth it in most cases other than the satisfaction. And I don't know your billing rates, but it's just not worth my time to fight them. Though i also wouldn't try and get them to cover anything....

I'd like to see an option where you can purchase the car with a substantially reduced warranty for less money. For example, if you purchase the car with only a 3 month, 5000mile powertrain warranty, you are given a $1500 discount. This has several advantages for both parties:

Reduced warranty investigation and associated costs
Reduce warranty claim battles and associated costs
Customers who modify don't pay for something they can't use
Customers who don't modify (but have a warranty) can actually get their car fixed in a timely fashion
Reduces warranty fraud associated with modified cars going back to stock to get a claim honored
Customer satisfaction goes UP!

Certainly there are challenges to this concept, but I think it would be worth investigating and sharing with the Evo community.

There you go mightybee. I didn't even have to search.

To be clear, I'm not saying Mitsu doesn't cover anything, but there are plenty of stories on these boards of Mitsu denying warranty work and simply preaching Moss Magnason to the dealership hasn't helped.

I'm sure Mitsu does follow the idea behind Moss Magnason sometimes, but there are pleny of documented issues. Here's more after a few seconds of searching.
