So on a scale of 1-10...

...how concerned should I be with this?

I came back from a 4 day vacation and found a football sized pool of oil on my garage floor. I can't get into the dealership until Monday so I figure I'll leave her sit until then...I'm kinda pissed.

Anyone know if this is common?

I'd be very concerned since that's the transfer case. I don't think it's very common to break at all. Did you ever change the fluid? I do remember reading that some of the cars came overfilled.

i would say 9-10 if it was me. a couple drops ok, but a football sized pool of fluid i would say is a definite problem that needs to be addressed.

Yeah, I've been reading around and I'm thinkin I've fallen victim to the transfer-case overfill problem. It's been leaving quarter to golf ball size spots overnight...fml.

Good thing I have haven't modded it yet.

Mitsubishi has a 1-800 number to call for a free tow to the dealership, let them take care of it under warranty. Do not drive your car. My guess is your transfer case was overfilled from the factory like mine was.

Thanks for the info. How bad was yours and what had to be done to fix it?

Evo X transfer cases are extremely sensitive to fluid levels. Mine was not filled properly when after doing a clutch install and 8k later the R&P starting making a horrible whirring/whining. They are just as susceptible to overfilling damage too as it is hell on the seal between the tranny and t-case and the fluid can foam up and not properly lubricate.
