Whining sound from Evo X

New to Evo and turbo. My Evo X has 3000 miles, and when slowing to a stop I hear this high pitch whining sound (almost sounding like a siren) coming from engine compartment which sometimes continues for a few seconds after stopping. Is this coming from the turbo? Is this normal?

No the whining sound I am getting is not as loud and constant as yours. It is almost like hearing an emergency or police siren coming from a distance. This as i said happens whenever I am slowing down to a stop.

I would say transfer case or transmission since it seems constant. I was looking at an evo this past weekend and was the same sound. I called Shep and Jack transmissions for quotes on the Tcase, dealer only option. Neither of them rebuild Xs yet. Quoted a touch under 3k each of the quotes were literally within 3 dollars of each other. Which was better than going right to the dealer.

not my car, just an example.
My car is a little quieter but still makes a whirling/howling noise and starts to make siren noises going around 60mph. Check to see if your ACD fluid is full, the fluid in the trunk. Also open the oil fill plug on the T-case to check if it is overfilled.
