Front passenger side axle seal question.
I have a 2008 gsr and this is kind of a stupid question but I just want to make sure. My front passenger side axle seal is leaking so would that be transmission fluid or transfer cas fluid that's leaking from the seal?

I am pretty sure it is just grease, not oil from the TC or Trans. The seal is there to seal off the u-joint from everything. I had a buddy with a 2010 MR lowered (coils) and with spacers have this happen to him.

Ok well since i just had a bad leak but mine was the trans not the seal (i wish it was). from what i am told the seals leak because the inputshaft could be bent. this can be causes by a hard launch or a bad mis shift. If its just leaking its starting to ware the seal out because the rotation is off. saddly this will cost some money to fix if this is the problem. you would need a new input shaft and they actully dont make a replacment seal right now. so the shop has to make the old one work and seal it. I would recomend you keep an eye on the oil and get it to the shop as soon as you can afford it to be repaired.

whoops! sorry i read it quick and the first thing that came to my mind was the cv boot. I had a buddy that had his rip and couldnt get it warranted because he was lowered.
graphite is correct, in the GSR the front transfer case and trans has the same gear oil source.
I blew out the o-ring seal on my transfer case within 1000 miles i put on the car. I am pretty sure it is because mitsu overfilled the t-case from the factory. Replacing it sucks too because last i heard you couldnt just buy/replace the o-ring. You had to get the entire new housing for the t-case. Luckily mine was covered under warranty.

Sorry i thought it would be the same oil but it is not. Look at the work order details when i had my t-case o-ring replaced.

Im just saying man i would have to guess the input shaft if you have not overfilled it before. that is the only thing that could cause it to ware wrong but maybe im wrong we will find out over time i guess
