Idle issue + Diagnosis
Idle issue + Diagnosis
Over the weekend my car started to miss fire at idle. Ive never had this issue before and there were no prior signs of it developing.
Had the CEL scanned and it brought up MAF sensor and air intake sensor faults.
Checked the spark plugs and #1 cylinder plug was damaged internally. The ceramic surrouding the electrode had come lose from inside the plug itself and was reducing the spark causing the miss. They are HKS super fire plugs. Lucky the ceramic didnt break off completely and find its way into the engine! Ive changed the plugs and cleared the codes and all is well.
So anyone who running these plugs and develops a random miss fire check your plugs up and down for any faults. Ive now been told this has happened a couple of times to a few EVO X with the same plugs.
My car only has minor mods being drop in air filter, muse top intercooler pipe, invidia q300 cat-back and ECU reflash.
Hope this can help anyone who finds themself in this situation.
