Best tranny fluid to use?

So my 2nd is hard to engage and or grinds alot as well with my 3rd gear. Before I get a works short shifter and bushings I wanted to get a transmission flush and was wondering what would be the best fluid to use? I have an 08 red gsr with 44k miles

Old photo!

Redline now offers MT85 for the EVO, works like a charm!

MT-85 is for the VIII & IX, the redline cocktail is better for the X. Read Kracka's thread.

Anyone have experience with the amsoil? I have the same issues. Also heard Mitsubishi will void the warranty for using different fluid?

While I can't say if either generation uses a dufferent oil, I can say that MT85 is MT90 and MTL. This is straight from Redline.

I originally was using a mix of the 2, and now simply the MT85. The feel and performance is the same.

Maybe Kracka willl update his thread as more info is available.

If your worried about your warranty let the dealer do it. you will have both sides of the coin reply to pros and cons. i use redline and always have since i have had my car.... i have had no issues. others however will say it is garbage due to amsoil fan boys or what have you. try one and if you dont like it try the other.

pretty much the consensous will be redline, amsoil, or OEM fluids.

Correct. MT-85 was designed to meet spec of DSM and Evo VIII/IX 5-speed transmissions. Mitsu calls for a slightly different spec for the X 5-speed. Realistically, they're close enough that you can use either, but the MT-85 will be a bit thicker and won't shift quite as smoothly in colder temps or before the transmission warms up. The CocktailX (2xMTL + 1xMT90) is still my recommendation for all climates since it very closely matches OEM viscosity spec. My car has almost 50k miles running this mix (and shifter package) and it still shifts better than it did when new, I've noticed no degradation of shift quality.

I have used both the MT-85 and the redline cocktail. the MT-85 felt about the same as stock, slight grind going into 2nd and 3rd. I then decided to try the cocktail, and the slight grind is gone, except when it is very cold out and only for a few minutes.

I would go redline cocktail.
