Transmission breather?

So there was some kind of 90 degree plastic nipple that was here and it broke off a long time ago. the nipple was attatched to a 8 inch black hose that didn't connect to anything so i just said **** it and went about my way. I just noticed that it seems to be spitting fluid out of that hole, though not very much as i don't have any oil on my garage floor and everything in the surrounding area is dry, though theres some puddling of fluid around the hole.

What should i do about it? Tap it out and stick in a tiny k&n filter?

Hey did you ever fix this? I’m currently attempting to figure out where the actual line connects to and not sure if I should just leave it venting to atmosphere

I have a special style breather that will keep out liquids and solids but let gasses pass. This is so you can allow pressure inside to vent without getting contamination inside. Is this threaded at the base? I can't tell.

It’s hard for me to tell as well, but I believe it isn’t threaded. I’ve seen replacements and it looks like it’s just a plastic piece that inserts into that hole, but then usually will have a hose running somewhere

Here is the link to replace the 90* fitting. The line just runs over top and then down the back of the trans. It does not connect to anything, Just open and pointing down.

Well if you need a breather that will allow only pressure/gases to pass while keeping debris and liquids out that will adapt to a barbed nipple or hose let me know. I use these when I do rear ends on trucks and also on the transmissions of my honda's.
