Question What is the correct size for fuel pressure regulator (FPR) hose in silicone?

As we know, the factory fuel pressure regulator (FPR) hose is prone to pop off under boost: https://www.evoxforums.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=18366

This situation worsens as the rubber hose ages and loses elasticity. When it pops, the engine risks running lean because of a part that costs peanuts. I did thus a Google search and found there are indeed aftermarket companies making silicone hoses that can be used as replacement:

They even make clamps of the right sizes:

Any thoughts? My understanding is that the silicone hose should have an inner diameter smaller than the nozzle to ensure tightness.

This issue was previously discussed here, but the exact size remains inconclusive: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...hose-size.html

that way you just pop a line off and replace with new line. its not so much the length that gives me trouble, its the diameter. i never know what diam. to order

Added info: I also just found some info online.

1) Samco Sport UK does seem to make sets of silicone hoses for the Evo X, although I'm not sure yet about their availability in North America:

2) Mishimoto also seems to make some parts for our karts cars, although there are numerous rubber hoses around the valve cover that don't seem to have a Mishimoto replacement equivalent:

None of these companies have a direct replacement for the FPR hose, but then it shouldn't be hard to buy some universal hoses and cut it ourselves. We just need to know the correct size.

From a showing-off standpoint, I might want to choose the red one to match other red elements in the engine bay: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...l#post11247371; https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ml#post8404700

It's a simple straight 3mm ID hose. Just buy a regular piece and cut in the correct length.

Thanks a lot!!! I have researched into this further and you are definitely correct. FPR hose is 3mm ID. 3-port EBCS hose is 4mm ID: https://www.wtftuned.com/collections...uel-pump-relay

I can not believe the amount thought you have put into a piece of hose and two zip ties for this thread.

Got both the Turbosmart silicone hose (TS-HV0303-RD) and clamps (TS-HCS-003) from a local broker for C$29.91. Installation was a breeze.

^ Factory hose is a 18mm long rubber hose.

^ The clamps are great.

^ Yay!

For removing the stuck and inelastic factory hose, I used Chad's method so the hose came off gently and nicely:
