So i have a chance to pick up a mhi-18k with 1500miles on it. The only concern I have is the compressor wheel. I know it doesnt look that bad but would like a second opinion.

Looks to have a little bit of FOD on the leading edge of some of the blades. Not a deal breaker though. What are you paying for it?

For a few hundred more, I would opt for the new one. That turbo has likely ingested some debris.

Just my thought after seeing the new prices at $1600.00 or so

I second this. It could be far more costly if you later find out the used turbo has an issue.

Those small dings on the compressor are caused by very small debris. Remember, the compressor is spinning 100k+ rpm. It doesn't take much to dent the leading edge of the blade.

Get the price at or under $1k shipped, and send the turbo to FP. They can inspect it for $100, and I think their full rebuild is now only $275, and the $100 inspection fee is waived if you pay for a rebuild. So, you can still save a decent amount of cash. That compressor certainly does not need replaced.

That is great to know. Forced Performance has their MHI 18K's out of stock for quite a while now. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is not discontinuing this beloved turbo anytime soon, right?

Order from other vendors, I just check and CobbTuning has the 18k in stock. RallySportDirect also sells this turbo, not sure if they have stock though.
