Those with the MR's

Just wondering, what sort of RPM's are you running at highway speeds? The GSR is running like 4 grand... just curious and I couldn't find it anywhere.

just below 3k

really? At 80? What MPG do you get on the highway?

Black-X Jan 5, 2009 10:46 PM

I think at 80 the GSR is at 3800-3900rpm. The MR is under 3k? Wow, MR's must get A LOT better gas mileage on the highway. I'm guessing this is the reason there aren't any MR MPG ratings out there (that I know of anyways)?

25mph per 1000rpms .. 75mph is 3000rpms

sporkmonger Jan 6, 2009 03:45 PM

RPMs are anywhere from 3200-3600 @ 80mph, depending on grade and conditions, if I recall. I've been able to "hypermile" up to 26 MPG combination city/highway on 93 octane, but it takes too much effort, and honestly, I never really cared that much about my gas costs. I average closer to 20-21 MPG on my commute if I'm driving normally. Errands, more like 17 MPG.

Pic attached with my MR in 6th, at indicated 76 MPH. It's about 3200 RPM.

The GSR badly needs another gear or longer ratio's.

Interesting !! Are you running different sized tires ? :D

120kmh =75mph and it sits right at 3000rpms :p

That is absolutely not true. The RPMs at one given gear will not change at the same speed, there is no conditions that will change that..
If you are driving with the same gear and increase the spped then the RPMS will increase. If you are in the same gear and increase the rpms then the speed will increase as well.

What you are saying is that there is some fluctuation on rpms at 80mph which is totally false.

Excellent way to prove it. My vette sits exactly at half of that at 75mph(1600 rpm). by the way, what color is your MR?

actually it might not be the case if its an automated manual tranny. the 2 auto clutches use somewhat of a torque converter, the car has to engage some how? i'm probably wrong tho..... if it is manual then ur right.

GSR definitly should have been a 6 speed.. maybe the 2010s will be 6 speed
