who's running Meth? Esp..in DD's
 

Ok...summer is coming around and I want to run a methanol water injection kit. I have heard so many frickin horror stories about engines being blown and lines clogging, I'm afraid to run it. :crap: My X is my daily driver, so I need this thing to work at all cost. Of course I know I have to check the level, like anything else. But I was wondering if there was a kit that had low level alarms, shut down the boost in the event no meth is present, or possibly switches to another map if there isn't any alki. I know the only way I can get better power gains besides running race gas, is to use meth. So who is running meth on their DD's.. Anybody? :helpme:

AEM has a nice one. They have a bunch of sensors and stuff for when you low and run out.

i was running it on my dd and will again soon as evoscan comes out

after my last round of upgrades we didnt have time to tune for the meth

How was the Meth usage? How often you have to fill up and what size res?

i used my washer jug in the trunk

i would top it off about every 2 tanks a fuel

but i would still have about 1/8 to 1/4 tank of meth

so i just topped it off every 2 tanks of fuel

Aquamist>Snow,labonte,aem etc.

If you want to run water/meth injection, go straight to Aquamist. No other system (not kit) comes close. I was running an hfs-5 on my VIII with an EBC - when there was a fault with the meth kit (low bottle, low (or too high) flow, clogged injector, etc - it would shut off the EBC so that I was running wastegate pressure).

I had a 6 liter bottle, and ran 50/50. Before I upgraded my injectors I would fill up about every third tank of gas (or after every session on track days).

Spend some quality time on this section of EvoM (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/wa...ction-nos-173/), especially the threads by Richard L. It is time well spent if you are thinking about going alcoholic.

You can run meth on a daily driver. Here are some points to consider...

- get a good kit from one of the vendors - aquamist, snow perf., SMC, etc...
- have a prefessional and well known shop do the install and tune
- run 100% meth - best benefits
- just keep an eye on the low level indicator and refill when it says. you can last 1-2 months on a fill up, it all depends how you drive and how much you use. you could go for a year if you really wanted.
- enjoy the BOOST! it is addicting...

it's very easy and simple. don't mess around with it....let the shop set it all up and set the boost levels. get it done right, or you will have problems. all you really have to do is fill up the tank when needed. it's that easy.

Yeah, I will look into Aquamist, but my friend was telling me about this company called Alkycontrol. They don't make any kits for the X, but they do make them for the VIII and the IX. They have steel braided lines as oppose to the rubber stuff. That is a good selling point, because I'd hate for that rubber to break..and spill that crap in my trunk. How are you guys mounting your kits in the X any pics?
