Do I NEED a fuel pump with FP Green?

Running FP Green turbo with pump fuel only on a Daily driver do I need a new puel pump?

While there are drop in injectors, to change the fuel pump I need to find not only a pump but also some kind of housing for it and I need to use some other fuel filter as the filter and pump uses a single assembly. It seems too much work if the pump will be enough for Green and pump gas.

You'd be artificially limiting yourself to save some money, but with an MR you might not be able to push it as hard anyways. I'd say "yes", only because it's a dirt cheap safety.

abazaba410 Mar 14, 2010 05:01 PM

my tuner wouldnt touch my car without one.

FastLearner Mar 14, 2010 05:03 PM

Yes

Then lets change the question because it was not about saving money. I was concerned about changing the fuel pump housing and filter etc.

Who sells a suitable pump (Walbro 255/Bosch 44) and pump assembly/housing for Evo X and filter so it would be an easy swap?

By the way I am still not sure why the stock pump is not adequate. Is there some evidence that it cannot supply enough fuel or leans the mixture? We are not talking about IDC as it is known that IDC quickly goes to 90-100% on most setups.

Blaqops does.

Way at the bottom. Supposedly a "drop in", 165+cost of pump. Inline filter. I've not personally used it, but I know several people who have used their "double pumper" setup, and they dropped right in; this should fit even better.

I've heard nothing but good things about blaqops. They are on my todo list. :D

While I disagree you need one (comment above about your tuner requiring one simply means he likes you to spend money, big surprise here).

As for the BlaqOps kit: this is the E85 kit. A Walbro 255 pump and the parts to install in in an Evo X is maybe $115. See 'that other forum' thread #13843 (http://www.***************/forums/sh...ad.php?t=13843) for more information.

No need to run the BlaqOps kit, as far as I can tell, unless you are going E85.

Someone correct me here if I am wrong - but I cannot find any other reason to buy this expensive of a kit to simply run a Walbro 255 in the Evo X.

I think you need some sort of mounting kit to get a Walbro in our cars; I don't think it'll just literally drop in place of the stocker. Or, if it does, it'd require you to zip tie, and probably rip the old one out all awkwardly. Not sure though, but for ~165 bucks, it's not like it's expensive.

why take the risk, its cheap insurance,

Yeah, agree it's not a drop in, but I think you need the following:

Foam-Lg Thick Foam sleeve for fuel pump : $3.00
FlexHose8 8-inch Flex hose : $3.00
(2) HC4 stainless #4 hose clamp : $1.20
PkUp-Short Short pickup filter for denso-like pumps (someone needs to confirm this is the right one...) : $8.00

TOTAL: $15.20 + shipping.

As I mentioned, there is an excellent How-To thread that i posted above, whose link was blocked.

Ah. Well, yeah, that is a huge price difference.

Golden Mar 15, 2010 07:52 AM

I was going to choose it for the E85 compatibility. Some guys have had issues with the diy style.

MrHouse Mar 15, 2010 07:57 AM

Go with a walbro pump.

that will work if you plan to just run pump gas.

i just put in the blaqops kit this past friday. it is expensive but the adapter is really worth it. it just snaps into place. it took me some time to get it perfect and installed but it was a heck of a lot easier than trying to fab something up.
