HKS bolt on BB turbo.
I just saw these and thought I would share.
New turbo's to be released from HKS for both the CT9A (VII, VIII, IX) and CZ4A (X) Evos. The rumor is they will be ball bearing. This was posted by Ryan@JustJDM from the Australian EVOOZ forums.

HKS is played out, they are just tryin to compete with FP who obviously were successful making a twin scroll design turbo with some serious power ie fp black.
Probably over priced just like everything HKS makes. |
They are interesting to say the least. The fact that they're ball bearing is appealing and if they're competitively priced to the FP line up, they may very well be a viable option.
|
yeah the fp is a twin scroll but the difference here is ball bearing vs. journal bearing. interested in the numbers, subscribed

HKS has been around for a long time & i don't think they have to compete with FP (No Offense FP). You pay for what you get.
anyways different people have different ways of looking at things :) sub for updates {thumbup}

this is a huge advance in the evo world,
for those who have bb turbos know how good response is on the larger units, and to say something like HKS trying to cash in, well um 2 different units mate and both made totally different. all i say is hold back on the power stick mate ..your not pulling any aces nor holding any FP make serious gear and that is not anything new. But have you ever seen a bad HKS turbo? i sell alot of their gear and your right it is expensive, however it works and works well. back on topic lads |
Bryan / AMS,
Have you guys been contacted by HKS to test these? |

Interesting....
You guys do realize that all of HKS ball bearing turbos use Garrett CHRAs with HKS custom turbine and compressor housings. So the question becomes, how is this any different than the Garrett bolt-on turbos? |
That can't be cheap :)
|
They will be pricey, but if they stuck some bigger wheels in there coupled with ball bearings, could be a good mix. Looks like this turbo isn't any more capable than the FPred/BBX though.
And probably twice as much. |
Cant wait for more details. do you have a link to where you found it on speedhunters?
