Engine builder won't admit to fault
I don't wish to bore anyone with the whole story so I'll stick to the facts:
JE Pistons brand new made for stock bore Brand new 4B11 block from Mitsubishi The builder didn't measure the clearances and now after 1000 miles of running in on the stock map (no comment) the blame for: minor scratching on the cylinder walls and the pistons Engine builders quote: IF IT WAS NEW IT SHOULD FIT Now my question (please refrain from the fact that nothing was measured and that it's the builders fault as I'm trying to prove a different point here): HAVE YOU EVER IN YOUR LIFE SEEN STOCK BORE SIZE FORGED PISTONS THAT HAVE BEEN TOO SMALL. (too much clearance from piston to bore) Cheers |
Who assembled it? That's where the responsibility falls. Nothing is ever perfect, and every component that goings into an engine build, new or otherwise, needs to be measured and assembled accordingly.
Who did this build for you? |
Fight back against the builder

Who did this build for you? I live in Slovenia which is half the world away from the USA and the builder is some "oldschool awesome rally mechanic" who "knows his stuff". |
than whats the point of the tread if u dont want to reveal the source

Well if he is really half way around the world, than no one would even care what his real name is. It sounds like a guy that did it in his garage on the side or something.
Either way, the stuff should have been measured. But considering its not a reputable shop, this sounds like its gonna be tough. |
Well sounds like he didn't care or was in a rush. How long did the build take, did u monitor the build, has the mechanic worked on evo's?
|
Ok so how do you there are scratches? Did something fail and u took it apart. He should've checked it but they'd have to be really off or it wasn't a new brand new block. JE come undersized for proper clearance . But that should be checked to begin with .

Close this tread...someone wants to complain to the people but when people start asking questions to help or be warned he fires back like we blew his motor. Very ignorant...

I thought I made it pretty clear that "who built it" is irrelevant - just trying to prove a point that pistons for stock bore sizes are 99.9% of the time not wrongly sized.

Here's the OP's question:

thats great and all but that is not the title of his thread. If the thread has nothing to do with his engine builder then close this thread and open up another thread with the question stated above.
shops/engine builders is why I changed shops they all talk a great game but do not measure all the time. |
^^ You guys do realize his builder is some guy in a tiny country near Italy??
|
Sounds to me like most just want to see a fight between the OP and the builder.
