Idle issue
Having issues trying to get fresh build idling. Build specs are included.
Working with my tuner, we adjusted timing, fuel, etc.. without luck. Even when setting target idle rpm to 2000, it barely stays idling above 800 and drops to 500 and stalls. Now, it only does this AFTER the engine starts warming up. Meaning, it will start and idle fine when the engine is cooled down. Some Log files from EvoScan (The are just IDLE logs, maybe with small amount of driving) http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=95962258634900095891 (1.7MB) http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=00248903307910328136 (3.8MB) Engine: Sleeved 2.0 Manley TT I-Beam rods Manley Pistons ARP Rod bolts / Main Studs / Head Studs / Cam Tower Bolts GSC S2 Camshafts ST Dual valve springs Fully ported cylinder head w/+1mm valves ACL main/rod bearings/trust Polished stock crankshaft Polished metal '08 valve cover OEM Spark Plugs Exhaust: MAP Tubular Exhaust manifold ceramic coated Invidia N1 Catback AMS Test pipe AMS Widemouth O2 Downpipe MAP EF4 ported Intake: ETS Intake ETS IUCP ETS LICP ETS 3.5" Intercooler AP dual bov Ported intake manfold Fuel System: Walbro 255 Pump FIC 1100 High Imp Injectors Boomba Fuel Rail Drivetrain: CC 6-puck & flywheel Misc: Hallman Pro MBC LC-1 WB with gauge and serial logger -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've ensured timing is dead on, compression check came back fine, checked all connections and sensors and they're all fine. |

anyway, just came out here and started car. Coolant temp is 68* and idles perfectly. as soon as coolant starts getting above 100 something, then it barely can keep an idle and just wants to stall. especially if you touch the throttle. if you don't, then it idles fine but only if its still running when you first start it cold. meaning, i can't shut it off after warming it up and have it idle fine, and it actually takes a couple rotations to start. |
any ideas?

No help... been searching and reading some potential resolutions but just not matching up. Needing ideas. Oil preassure is fine.

Eric I'm thinking it may be related to the coolant temp sensor. I know at work a lot of our Audi's run into this issue, and that sensor is always the culprate. Maybe worth looking into?

when i put my motor back in i had a similar issue with it not running right and stalling after it got warmed up. my problem ended up being a bad o2 sensor. just an idea. good luck

O2 is new. but, did figure out issue. Was due to oil preassure issue and the ex mivec cam hitting -28* retard. Then figured out what caused the drop in preassure. issue resolved.
