Tomioka 5.00 Final Drive gears

What is the intended use?

This is what they are stating on their;
"TR Final Drive Gear Set raises the overall gearing of EVO. It enables the modification of the final gear ratio, adjusting the power band and gear ratios to tune better performance car. Kit includes center ring gear and output shaft."

if it is still unclear, then I suggest you read up on how gear mechanism and ratios work.

Awesome post...

What are these used for?
I think when the ratio goes in this direction the largest YAW effect from AYC is increased.

These will further shorten the gear ratios of the X. You'll have higher rpm on the freeway, the car will feel snappier when accelerating, and you'll stay in each gear for less time due to the final drive ratio being shorter.

Why you would want to go even shorter I have no idea...

That's what I'm wondering. The overall final drive ratio would be a little shorter (6%) than the the Mk1 MR-2: stock GSR 3.54, stock MR-2 3.66, and Tomioka GSR 3.75. I bring up the OG MR-2 becuase 80s cars had notably short gears. Of course the arguments for taller gears and turbo cars , building boost earlier and staying in boost, don't apply with the taller gears.

They got made so somebody thinks there's a good reason for them.
