CV Axle Topic

I've noticed lately that it looks as if both my front Axles are flinging a small amount of grease, the boots don't seem to be torn or badly damaged, also I haven't noticed any noise coming form either one. I'm curious as to what you guys have experienced and when you felt the need to replace the axle or maybe even just the boots. At the first sight of grease I just assumed it's time to get new axles.

Good question, awaiting input. My driver's side axle had some grease that it flung out and the boot looked fine, no rips or anything. No abnormal noise, clicking, or vibrations.

A bit of searching you will find it's a common issue on the X. It's not the CV shaft or even the boot, rather the clamps that were used are crap. 30-50k miles and they start flinging grease. All you need are new, good CV shaft boot clamps, and a good clean up of the grease that's been flung around.
