lotus elise vs evo X

ok so the lutus ellise does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds just about what the evo will do. They both also handle about the same. Price for ellise is 45,000, evo = 38-40,000
anyone going to look into the lotus ellise? i know i am.

I cant remember where I got the info, but the magazine, video said the lotus ellise handled just as good as the evo.

I like sharing the fun of a car...evo has a back seat...I'm not selfish...and I don't wanna have to make all my friends take turns in that tiny little itty bitty passenger seat...and if I were to spend money on a lotus...it would be an exige S...little bit more torque from a supercharger, but 40k+ for less power than a stock WRX...

I wouldn't want an elise as a daily driver. It is supposed to be a track dedicated car, IMO.

Evo X on the other hand can be daily driven and has a lot of bells and whistles.

I would say their handling is comparable though.

The Evo doesn't hold a candle (stock vs stock) to the Elise handling characteristics. Sure the Evo might get up to speed faster than the Lotus, but the little Brit will hold a lot more of that speed going through the turns.

Exactly. Try go to a local HPDE and follow a elise into the infield, chances are you will pass him on the straights and the elise will blow the evo away up into those high speed s turns.

Seriously, go test drive a lotus. I have. Completely different world than the evo. I am not saying one is better or worse than the other. Just that comparing an evo and an elise is like comparing black and white.

Ummmm....how can i put this nicey........NO. The elise might give the evo a run for its money in auto x. But it will not hold up in high speed turns at all like the evo. The car just has too small of a wheel base. And plus if you were to up the power level in the elise, the car would get squirly in no time soon.

I actually came within a month of buying the elise after having been on a wait for a year for the first ones. Great car, but wildly different than anything else.

Its the same in that its relatively close in price and offers great performance and feel. Thats where it ends. Unless you are pretty hardcore or have a second car, the elise may not be a good choice. Aside from the obvious impracticalities, its also made kinda of cheaply/very basically. It suffers from very odd problems such as the early ones had problems with the headlight melting slightly and deforming. The moldings inside the door would melt and then things begin to rattle. If you get in a minor accident, the car may be totalled. So basically it could be called a crappy car. That said, I still want and would buy one because nothing drives like one.

The evo on the other hand is a car you can live with every day. It will never have the crisp response or nimbleness of an elise, but it has raw performance that somehow makes up for that. A modified evo is also faster both around a track and in a straight line.

After all this, I still get tempted to go that direction again, but you give up a lot with an elise.

Thats the reply I like to see !! From a guy who owned both cars !! Not like someone just read some magazine review, watch some video and think they know both cars !!
