There seems to be a huge gap between what enthusiasts think the older cars are worth and what they can actually get.

I had the hardest time selling my '05 GSR. CarMax offered me $16K, dealership offered me $18.5K and I had it listed privately at $23K for months. I ended up selling it privately for $21K. The car was in 9/10 condition with 24K on the clock.

we sold new MR's for like $32 new when they were $36k sticker... plus as a dealer or a consumer you have to assume most evo's have been driven "enthusiastically"

The 4b11 has iron sleeves this aluminum vs iron argument is worthless. IT HAS IRON SLEEVES.

Either way I would buy this car and keep it stock for daily driving..I dont think its worth the $40,000 then MOD it and be the first Evo X owner with a blown engine that the Warranty won't cover..

BUT

I've heard in Japan they've made over 600hp on the stock internals..So yeah if you wanna make 700hp+ you might wanna stick to the iron block.

Good luck with your purchase, hope it works out without you being robbed too badly. caveat emptor

Uhm UK and Japan have had AYC since the Evo 7 I believe.....So I duno why you'd think it would be "greater" like your saying we have special parts that they dont...

ooops Evo 5 like Rob said.

Well, the cars didn't exactly move off of dealership lots so I'm not quite sure why it would be any different in the used car market. That's still an impressive resale value for a three year old car.

Actually that's not very impressive IMO.

When I went "window" shopping for Supras, MR2s, and RX7s, I was shocked at how much people wanted for them. Even dealerships that had them wouldn't go too far below their asking price. I've seen turbo MR2s for $15k @ 50k miles. Supras at a minimum of $27k with mods!! Type R Integras going for $18k. The sports cars of the 90s really hold value well and they are over 10 years old!

Want to talk about impressive resale value. A clean, low-mileage 2004 R32 still sells for close to the sticker price of the car

it really is a stupid argument... case in point aluminum open deck block with no sleeves at all.. 601whp 22psi. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...5400e4352a.htm

and I point this out everytime... I know its cool to say your car is 700 hp... but the car is a great autoX'er and RR car..... Im just not a fan of making evo's into drag racers and dyno queens....

I think the evo with 400 hp is awesome for most every use....

He meant that we'll notice more of a difference with this car than other countries will because this is the first we've been subjected to Active Yaw Control, it isn't the first one for them.
