Thank you. If you want a 900 horsepower car, why the f*** would you buy a four cylinder car?

I still love the "come back and our mechanic will unleash more power" line on the first page!

Actually, i've been in the car business for my whole life and sell cars every weekend for my dad. when i have a guy that shoot an outright ridiculously high number for his trade, most of the time i can tell right there he's not serious about actually trading in. Now, I couldn't believe how much BS the dealer fed you in regards to the X, they just need to admit that the GSR X is slower than the MR IX. They should have rather tried to sell you on the assets of the X instead of rip your car apart. I think after everything i've learned the best way to negotiate for your trade is to be reasonable but persistent- don't give up. If it takes coming and going from the dealership to get that extra grand, then do it! But seriously, unless you have a GT35R IX MR or something of the sorts, i would even say you are pushing it with the private party value to say its worth $29.

Dude you have no idea what you are talking about. First, i would feel WAAAY more like a tool sitting in a new 3 series than an evo because the chances are some 16 year old chick will pull up texting on her phone in the same car. Plus, its such a has been for BMW. Its like the car people get when they think they have arrived, but in fact haven't. I drove a TSX for about 4 months and the thing was SLOW plus 200 hp!? My jetski has almost that much. Plus the ride in the TSX is just as crappy as an EVO which shouldn't be the case. Oh and your G35, unless it's a coupe, don't even talk about that grandma car in here.

Tool= Talon with more money in sound and engine that should have been put towards a paint job to change the primary color from primer/rust to an actual color

Which means that that car will probably be taxes and all out the door for right about 40K. Werent IX MR SEs going for 35-36k out the door?

No Evolution ever made had much of an "interior" to speak of, they are basicly a Lancer with Recaros and some different guages and other misc stuff. Hell, an STi has a considerably better interior quality over a base Impreza. But all I have been reading was this new car (X) was being marketed to a slightly older demographic, and to steal some of the customer base from that of higher end marks (ie BMW, Audi, ect.). When I sat in that X, all I saw was some cheap wanna-be carbon fiber crap along the dash, and some Recaros, nothing that really screamed to me 35K dollar car.

My Talon cost me $1300, and I have $5,500 total into it. Hardly worth talking about in a thread about a new car. Anyhoo, my mom's Infiniti G35 and buddy's Acura TSX are tons nicer inside and out, and it's not like the Evolution is lightyears faster than either of those cars (factory). Hell, you can get a badass BMW 3 series for the price of the new Evolution, and you won't look quite as much of a tool sitting at a light as the Evo.

Bah, as they say, "theres an *** for every seat"

They werent laughing at anything because I let them run my credit and they saw that I can buy it out right and still keep the IX and get a sick payment, so playing hardball just like they try to F everyone else is what I did.
i know people that bought a MR brand new for 29k. So you might be out of line a little.

I see your point and i know your right about most people throwing out high numbers that arent serious about trading it in. Bottom line for me is that I know better to trade my car in since I know better than to trade it in because I know the value. Also in the area I live in all the little rich kids sweat my car and I knwo if I said it was for sale mommy and daddy would surely buy it for them. So in reality that is how I would sell it.

As far as the dealer trying to tell me something about a car I know more than them about was funny to me. I'm sure I can get $29K private party with the mods I have and the car is in immaculate condition in and out and I have all service records and all the original parts and aftermarket reciepts, plus I have the wealthy kids around in my favor as well. You made some very valid points though.

To all the X owners, dont get me wrong I love the look of the X and can deal with the rear tail lights, but I wish it had a different feel of power out of the box thats all. I have yet to test drive another one and next time I so I will be paying close attention to the SAYC.

depending on the dealership I can say most car salesman tend to try and know more about features an things when it comes to mainstream cars... Most dealers will sell 5-10 evo's a month and maybe 30 outlanders.... Which would you pay more attention to?

And alot of dealers do multiple car lines... My dealer is Honda/ used cars/ mitsubishi and Suzuki .... In that order....

I doubt any sales guy in my dealer knows more than me about the evo, but if you start asking me questions on the Endeavour I would be clueless... As I'm sure you are

Just a reminder that your buddy's TSX is nothing more then just an over price
outdated Honda Accord With Leather seat.[/QUOTE]

That's more true than you know since in Western Europe our TSX IS the Honda Accord. Acura is just a brand made up for Americans for the most part. (owning an X and having driven both the TSX is a nice car but nowhere in the same league as the X) If one wanted to tow out other cheaper cars remotely comparable to an X it might make more sense to reference the Eurospec focus RS (btw I think we are supposed to get that in a few years) or a new Cobalt SS .

Does it make you feel better if Mitsubishi takes out the Brembo Rotors brake systems and spend that 4k on leather seats?
Take away 4k worth of Recaro seat and make the EVO dash kit out of Silk.
Take away the 4k worth S-AWC yew control system and gold plate everything in the car?.
Take away the 4k worth AWD and add a Swimming pool in the trunk for the kids.

I didnt even talk about the Turbo yet, because Im keeping that.

After everything is all said and done, I have a car just like the TSX but much faster.
leather everything, Gold plated everything, Dash is made of silk, that is way better then any TSX. Plus a swimming pool in back, And that my friend is how I want to spend my money.

Nah.. just ad 50 more hp... and keep price and everything else as is.
