A friend who does vinyl signs cut them out from scrap material for me. So vinyl decal shop for you. I'm sure Home Depot will have something similar like a self adhesive vinyl furniture fastener cover or something.

I remember another member buying a trunk for like $260 and then got it painted. If you decided to plug, fill the holes with silicone and let it dry, can always take it out later on. Then throw some vinyl stickers on top.
