What mileage for 1st oil change?

At what mileage did everyone change their engine oil at? Also did you continue to use the factory fill mobil 1 oil? Thanks I have 2650 on mine and think I should have it done at 3000, but not sure.

The manual says every 5,000 miles... I just can't do that to my car so I would do every 3,000. I am about to change mine just because i've always heard after the break-in the oil should be changed. I'd go ahead and do it now if I were you.

First oil change 1k and I'm doing them at 2k for normal changes ( Mobil extended ). I know many will say it's to early but with the possible fuel dilution problem I'm not taking any chances.

They have a TSB that is saying instead of 5000mi, they revised it to 3000mi. i forgot the thread where i read it though. i'll look at it and post it again here.

Anyways, i did my first oil change at 1200mi. because it looks dark and smells fuel. did the reflash as well at the dealer afterwards...

I always change oil at the end of the recommended break in period then again at the first suggested mileage for for the extreme driving schedule, then just follow the extreme usage schedule unless I am tracking the car. I figure oil is cheap insurance. I would also change the other drivetrain fluids but that is just me.

I have 1200 on mine and am doing the oil this weekend. On my VIII I sent a sample off to Blackstone Labs every change, and ended up with 6,000 between oil changes (according to the numbers, my 6k oil changes showed the same wear as a typical 3200 mile change). I plan on going ahead and sending a sample of this one off to BL to take a look at the fuel dilution, and to have a baseline against the next change which I plan on doing at about 4500, and then I'll work from the numbers after that.
