when are the 2010 EVO X available?
exactly, i hate it when people compare cars that are no where near the same classification. evo has AWD for winter and 4 doors for when I actually want to go places with people. 370z was out of the running for me immediately, you cant even get an awd one in true manual
(My observation on the 2010 MR @ the Ralliart event in S.cali)
The other thing they didnt mention for the 2010 model is the plastic quality and fitment. I noticed that the door handle (inside to shut the door) is molded much better and you cannot feel the sharp crease where the splits are.

The 370 and X are targeting different buyers, but the direction each company went with their design is, I think, what Vasay is getting at. The X is flat out less aggressive than a IX where as the 370 is lighter, smaller, and more powerful than a 350. I don't think too many people here would have complained about Mitsu using that strategy.
I personally have been cross-shopping the 370z, STi, and Evo X. As of now, I'm leaning towards the Z, though. Higher quality interior, faster stock (don't think I'll be looking into modding right away), nimble handling, and the synchro-rev match is ridiculous.
The 370Z is a great performer for sure. Too bad about the ugly duckling looks. Now that I've had a chance to see it in person more than once the 350Z looks much nicer and I was never in love with that car's looks or any of the bubble shaped cars like the Audi TT for that matter.
Personally, I wouldn't own a RWD anyways. I do like the 370z, love the rev matching, etc. But I want AWD. The 370z may be a faster straight line car, but it would be hard pressed to beat the X on a road course.

The Evo records better lap times than a 370Z in most cases but RWD rocks when driven correctly.
I agree that RWD is best when choosing between FWD or RWD, but it's definitely not better unless you just want gobs of power for high speeds without the drivetrain loss.
Doesn't the Z have high compression? Good luck trying to make a lot of power without dropping major $$$..
If what you want is a RWD, sport car, better quality, dont plan on doing anything more then bolt-on's, dont plan on tracking the car, and plan on driving your date around only, get the Z!
