Road Race Engineering/ Anaheim Mitsubishi Evo X Redline Time Attack Results
The Redline Time Attack-Willow Springs was set to be a promising day for the Road Race Engineering / Anaheim Mitsubishi sponsored Evo X. Mike with Road Race spent some time tuning the issue I had at the last race with the ECU and got it all working well. We had a really good day Saturday and Sunday. The Evo X was running perfectly, which is never a good thing in racing . I was able to shave of eight seconds from Saturday to Sunday in the practice runs putting me at a 1:37 with a passenger and a lot of on-track traffic. I was hot on heels of the Synapse Engineering GT-R (but he was still owning me) which was running a 1:34 and was passing Porsches and BMW M3's in the practice runs (that is always fun).
Unfortunately, in the last practice run before the time trials (of course), the down pipe snapped in half. I was very frustrated because that put me out for the race as there was no way to get it fixed with less than 40 minutes before the Time Attack started. My Goal was to be able to shave at least another four seconds off my time but unfortunately the race gods were not with me.
Doug in the Red GTR and Synapse Engineering helped trailer the Evo X back to Anaheim Mitsubishi to get fixed. Once I had the new down pipe that the company sent to me Anaheim Mitsubishi took care of the install. Anaheim Mitsubishi recently started working in the aftermarket parts with Method 4 Motor sports so if you guys need anything done Anaheim Mitsubishi can help you out if you want it to still be "under warranty".
We received a newly designed downpipe with a better flex point so hopefully this won't have the problem again (knock on wood). Now we are getting ready for the upcoming SPOCOM event in Long Beach on June 14th. The next race for the Road Race Engineering/Anaheim Mitsubishi Evo X will be the Super Lap Battle on August 1st at the Fontana Raceway.
Congrats to Matt for the win in the Stock class that guy is tearing it up.
