HELP: Some rattling noise
I did have a strange rattling/clanking noise I could hear from the drivers side rear of the car, and had given up on finding it. Come to find out it was my windshield fluid reservoir. It was unbolted and making what sounded like metal on metal banging around. May not be your issue, but worth checking since it's a very simple fix.
any luck finding this rattle i have the same problem its coming from the left rear sounds like a loose bolt washer, happens when i go over excesive bumpy roads but goes away when i apply the brakes , have checked every thing brake caliper , shocks , bearing hub , checked diff hanger , and also drive shaft nut , everything is tight , im all out of ideas. ready to take the rear bumper off to see if anything is loose behind the plastic bumper.
u said ur suspension was changed? it could easily be a nut thats not tightened or became loose. i know this coz when i helped my friend to installed his springs, his came loose and started rattling. when we tightened it up, it went away.
i have come to conclusion that it is the rear cv joint closest to the diff on the left side it has excesive play in it so when i apply the brakes it actually loads the cv which intern stop the rattle i have a few friends look at this problem with me and they agree on it . i have never heard of cv rattling before .now i just have to take it in to the dealership to see if they agree with me.
I had a rattle in the back of my car. It turned out to be the bolt that holds the spare tire in place. All I had to do was tighten it and the rattle was gone.
The standard Evo X interior rattles don't bother me because my exhaust and stereo cover it up.
Edit to say: Why did someone bump a 2009 thread about rattles in an Evo? lol

Whitenight: Good luck. Let me know how it goes. My dealership thinks the noise is “normal”.
Mp72: Standard rattles don’t bother me either, this one is different. I resurrected the thread since simonlam168 seemed to be having the same problem and I had hoped he had figured it out since he seemed to be throwing a lot of time and resources at it.

I'd be surprised if the bolt is the source of your rattle.
There are a few spots that rattle in mine. They don't really bother me but here is what rattles a little bit:
-Driver Side where the seatbelt comes out of the pillar
-My Double Din with my Kenwood DD419
-Radar Detector
I'm going to try and use some sound proofing to help it out.
