Got rear ended..fix it or change it?
If you cash that check your accepting their payment as full and complete restitution for the damage done to your property. Any other costs to fix (as info supplied by others in this thread) are out of your pocket.
That's really not how it works. They write the check to you (which you CAN cash), the shop, or you and the shop. If you elect to cash it you just have to write a check to them when its done instead of endorsing over the original. Same as cash. Its not the end of the line. If there is additional work to be done the shop will likely get paid DIRECTLY from Geico.
