DO NOT pry it open with any tools, it is not required. Just get a good grip on the inside plastic towards the middle to bottom part, and give a tug. You will start to feel it give a little, so keep pulling. It will just pop right off.

I actually initially thought better from Recaro as they normally are known for quality products. Either the quality assurance department failed, or they were made in some third world country. Even though this wasn't a huge issue, it should have never been an issue in the first place.

A list of model years and if the issue exists would be a good idea, reference my example below:

08 - staple issue in passenger seat

Other examples:
10 - no issue in both seats
09 - staple issue in driver and passenger seat

Just an update to this fix. It is still holding up even after several dozen people sitting in the seats. A few were kind of large I may add, so that was a true test.

Im sure its been said already but just in case.... Best solution for me after pushing staples back in dozens of embarrassing times with passengers was to remove the plastic piece, comes off easily. Then stitch the exposed pieces together from front to rear so that they cannot slip out from under the plastic insert.

I did the stitching last week and have no problems since with lots of traffic in the seats. There's actually a good bit of fabric in there. They screwed it up pretty bad to let it slide out.

I actually had a lot of trouble getting the plastic pieces out without damage. You have to somehow push extremely hard towards the ground on the rear half of the the 2piece plastic part. There are some tabs on the front piece that bend if you don't. I never got the hang of it. If I hadn't looked really closely on the first one I probably wouldn't even have noticed anything was different.

It all went back together fine, so it probably doesn't matter anyway.

Congrats on getting it stitched up. I think this is a better fix over getting it re-stapled. I am not planning on doing the other areas just yet, I am going to wait for them to have the same issue, if ever.

The plastic pieces can be tricky, but once you do it a few times, you will get the hang of it. The trick is to grab the inside and pull outwards with some force until you feel it giving. You are right about the tabs, I am not sure if taking them off and on repeatedly will have any longterm impact on the integrity of the tabs.
