I was making 500whp with cams/e85 and my FPred, lol, they still did a few things to the motor under warranty.
You warranty is gone my friend, but its all about the dealer unfortunately. Some are better than others.

they can log your vin in their system stating that during an oil change or whatever they notice this this and this and deny you future warranty work
Is it even legal for Mitsu corporate to 100% void a warranty due to having a tune?
I mean, can they seriously deny a warranty repair of the fabric coming loose on your seats due to changes in the ECU?? Don't think such a situation would be kosher under the Magnuson-Moss warranty act..
I could maybe understand them refusing warranty work on a say a blown engine due to a tune (preferably if they could prove the tune caused the engine failure).. but blacklisting a car and outright voiding the entire warranty still seems like total bull**** imo.

This is scary. This is exactly why I have been bugging everyone in the northeast to tell me where a good dealers at. I had it all set up where I was living before, had to move and back to square one. I do not want to be in your situation, no offense.
As far as Magnuson moss goes, you have to, not only be ready and willing to prove them wrong, but also have the resources and cash to do it. Mechanics, lawyers, and lets not forget all the other j#$ks in between. I think the power in that act really lies in the person and their ability to react at the right time, the right way. So your at the dealer and they start pulling their runaround, if you calmly say "ok, thats fine, I will have my lawyer send over a letter of intent to your service manager by noon tomorrow and I will see you in court," my bet is people start getting uncomfortable and give you what you deserve, service. If not, well then you take it to the next step. Despite what I said earlier, yes you do have to have resources and cash, but a lot of the time, it will not even get to that point if you can treat the situation in a manner that tells them your the wrong guy. Just my two cents.

no it's not legal
but
how deep are you pockets?...there are a number of members that spent who knows how much in court/lawyer fees to fight mitsubishi over not honoring the magnuson-moss act

If you really needed serious warranty work, refer to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
The long and short of it is that the dealer can't void your warranty unless they can prove that the aftermarket part (in your case, tune) caused the specific failure that you are trying to get warrantied. I'm sure it would still be a hell of a fight if you tried to prove Mitsubishi wrong, but at least the government is on your side...sort of. Are the time/money you're going to exhaust necessary worth it? Likely not, but if it comes down to an expensive repair like a transmission or something, you might want to fight it.

Yeah, probably not.. but hopefully there will always be a few that will do it out of principle alone.
And I totally understand Mitsu's reasoning for being hyper-strict with their warranty service.. I mean, if a guy builds up his car to 500HP, drag-races on the weekends, and then reverts everything back to stock so that Mitsu has to foot the bill for something.. that's not at all fair to them. Well, likewise, it's not at all fair of them to refuse warranty repair when a guy's power windows stop working just cuz he slapped on a cat-back exhaust that literally effects nothing else on the car. There has to be a balance.. and short of finding a super-awesome, anything-goes kind of dealership, there isn't.
If they're not big enough to play by the rules, they truly deserve every lawsuit they get.. worse yet, every mention of a warranty issue like this just further tarnishes their brand name and scares away potential buyers.
Just my 2-cents, of course. /rant, lol.

I asked a year ago about this at the dealership and they told me they may make notes about your cars changes that were made, however they will honor any recalls or maintenance that is not caused by a modification. Did they actually tell you your entire warranty is voided?
They can't completely void the MFGW if you have a custom tune. Say the seat belt buckles no longer work, they are LIFETIME WARRANTY btw, and the deny your claim and you crash and die as a result, it would be all kinds of bad for Mitsubishi.
They have to prove the modifications you did caused the defect and then deny the claim, but NOT void the MFGW.
