BOV on Evo X?

I wanted some input on bov's on the Evo x! I am awaiting my full turboback install and drop in k&n, and a custom tune by Lightspeed in Red Deer, AB. I told Cam that I wanted a bov installed as well and he advised me not to! I know it does nothing for performance, but I love the sound. I know alot of evo owners are using bov's, so has anyone had issues using a bov? I was wondering why he is trying to steer me away from getting one? Any info would be appreciated.

The aftermarket bovs gives boost spikes. I own a Evo X and I've tried a couple of them together with my tuner.
The Evo X isn't built for open air bovs even when tuned.
You have to lower the boost to avoid those spikes, and when you do you only loose power for the benefit of the sound.

STOCK BOV+ GOOD TUNE= Best results.

Aftermarket might be a good choice.

Thanx guys, that pretty much answers my question. I think I will stick with my factory bov. I dont want any problems or to lose any power. I could have been more specific; i WAS talking about a vent to atmosphere bov! It seems you figured that much since I said I like the sound! After I put my k&n drop-in filter in I can actually hear the factory bov faintly.

I've also heard of individuals mentioning that BOVs are not recommended.
There is a modding thread in the newbie section that mentions the common negative remarks about BOVs for the X.

Just get an open intake system and you'll have all the BOV sound you could want. The stock one can get pretty loud ...

Exactly. Pretty much any intake will solve it for you...AMS, ETS, etc. If you are running meth or E85 (high boost) then you will want an upgraded divertor valve. I'd recommend the one from Works but there are a few good ones out there.

I don't get why people insist on having a aftermarket bov when their tuner highly advises against it. My stock bov is louder than I would ever want it to be with my AMS intake, wish I could make it more silent!

only if you running over 26 psi . For me the APS dual worked the best. Drives like the stock and hold the high boos much more reliable.
