I would say just go with a carbon fiber hood if your insurance won't pay. Barring that, people have their used on sale on forums classifieds all the time.

Yeah for something minor they cannot increase your rate especially if it is not your fault.

Other than that wait for a good deal on a used one or wait for someone that bought a CF hood recently and nab their stocker.

First thing's first... File a police report.

If you have uninsured/underinsured coverage, this would go on that, and likely carries a $250 deductible, not the $500 from your comp. Your insurance should not go up for that.

Nice, thanks. Taking care of it this week. I'm definitely going to investigate.

BTW, the price quote makes a lot of sense. When My Evo X got dinged last winter, my garage , which I have worked with for years , told me that aluminum hoods are a pain to repair. They are brittle and do not work like steel.

Extra time is required to make it right. and it doesnt always come out perfect.

In the US, you replacement cost for parts is soooo cheap, I would go that route.

$600 to $700 is normal pricing for a repair like that. My family has been in the auto repair business for 35 years. If you pay less than that then you're risking not getting a professional job with a warranty.
