i think because its sending signals all the time compared to a regular remote , the battery life is quite a bit shorter.

Yea obviously the battery will drain faster on the smart key because it is almost always sending out a signal.

The one key I use yells at me most of the time now. '08 with 30k miles.

Since I still had the picture of yours on my phone... i went ahead and replaced the one i use all the time because the lock/unlock/arming range has gone to poop.

So, first replacement at 2,500 miles for me It was a left over 2010 though.

Mine started giving me the replace message last month. It was right at 3 years of daily driving use. I must of had ~40k miles on the car. The funny thing is both my remotes went at the same time. One from every day use and the other from just sitting in a cabinet.

Easy to replace though.

No wonder, You have to use the car not look at it lol. I have 09 with 61000kms and my range is noticably shorter than what it used to be.

Mine started giving the message just over 2 years! Meeh, it's like an under $10 battery. Don't go to the dealership, they will want $30-40!
