I agree. They are very difficult to compare as it varies by your location and state. There are just to many things to factor when people come out with how much they pay. I did not mean for it to turn into an insurance pricing thread.

What I wanted to post is the difference in increase between the EVO and the STI. Anyone have any ideas as to why a 2012 EVO/Eclipse will cost me $432 a month and a 2012 STI/Eclipse is $220 a month? This is what is more shocking to me.

I can say its $432 a month with the Evo cause maybe I have a bad driving record or credit. But for the Evo and STI to have a difference in price $212 a month, this is what confuses me.

USAA quted me like that about 6 years ago for a 2003 EVO 8. so I switched insurance. I moved to Progressive and they quoted me $180 a month ( I was 21 years old + 1 car accident, totaled the car). Then after a year they dropped it to $145. Now I just recently bought my EVO 9 MR and the first 2 months I was paying to $175 now I'm back to $140.

They were great insurance to me from the beginning.

$4k/year for only liability?? That's just insane.

Were you street racing in a school zone and run over a Geico agent's kid?

It wasnt meant to be a thread comparing the amounts people are paying for their insurance. I know I have full coverage, un-insured motorists, $250 deductibles, personal injury for $100,000. I might have rentals and towing.

I was not trying to compare my rate to someone elses.

What I was comparing is that for whatever insurance limits I have, and in San Antonio Texas, It will be $432 a month if I get the Evo

Now the exact same insurance and insurance amounts, in San Antonio Texas, will be $220 if I get a STI.

This is what confuses me. $220 a month for full coverage on 2 new sports cars seems about right in my area. However,

$432 a month for 2 sports cars does not. Something is up with the Evo in my area. Maybe most the Evo's sold the last couple of years have been crashed or stolen? Maybe they are expensive to repair. Maybe the average age and sex of the Evo drivers here is 18 year old males. I dont know. But the difference for me between EVO and STI is $212 a month. And I am not understanding why.

I pay less than $100 a month for my Evo X (Full Coverage with a $500.00 deductible)

Idk if it's because I have no accidents or traffic violations. I switched from USAA to Geico and got a much better rate.

I plan on getting a couple of more quotes but have a feeling they will be around the same. USAA has pretty good insurance and comparable rates.

But get this......

I have also been thinking of getting a STI instead of an Evo. Im not really into racing and modding and feel the STI is a better DD. I also like that it has fold down back seats and 6 speeds. So I have them quote me on a 2012 Subaru STI sedan. It comes in at $220 a month for my eclipse and the STI with the same coverage. So the STI will be an increase of $32 a month.

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Perfromance wise I would say the Evo is better than the STI. But not by much (stock comparisons). Why would there be such an difference in insurance coverages? Is it a theft thing maybe? Is alot of young kids getting the Evo's and crashing them? I have an excellent driving record and pretty good credit. I have also been with USAA for many years and have my home owners, personal value insurance, multiple cars, etc through them. They say the rate for the Evo isnt high because of me. Its just the rate in my area for some reason.

Im a little bummed. I guess Im either going to get a WRX or STI or I'll keep my Outlander Sport.

Well for the exact same coverage and cars StateFarm came in at $317.26 a month. It is still $100 higher than if I got a STI. I dont know what it is but something is up with the EVO in my area. The StateFarm lady didnt even want to call me back cause she was shocked at how high the price was. She said it is much higher than if I bought a Vette or Stang. Craziness

I guess I need to get out of San Antonio Texas and move to Wisconsin.

If that's the case, then demographics are to blame. Maybe ur area has a lot of evos crashing, high rate of speeding tickets, and stolen cars in ur area, and ur age range. With ur age plus the demographics in ur age bracket, that's what making ur premium high.

That's what insurances look at. evo is nothing but a high end sedan to insurance companies. Hell, I got safety discount on the evo since there's about 10 airbags on the evo x.
