Top 5 Mitsu dealers?
Can you say more about being ripped off with a 3rd party warranty? Did they charge you for one after to had said no? Or did they simply offer you one at a price you didn't like?
In some states, like Minnesota, we're required by law to present extended warranty options to every customer. This doesn't mean you have to take it. We get plenty of people who either don't want it, can't afford it, or plan to void their warranty (Evo buyers).

The dealership closed earlier on Saturday night. I think at 8pm. As we completed the deal they closed and my wife and I, finance manager, and sales man were pretty much the few left. Outside lights off and doors locked also.
My salesman took the car to fill it up on gas and I waited for finance. I finally went into finance. The finance manager asked me if I wanted any extended warranties or anything. I told him NO. All we wanted was the agreed price of the car and Gap insurance.
He then said "Gap insurance? You need the Blue Steel then" This Blue Steel was some 3rd party paint chip protection and theft protection warranty I guess. He had us sign the paper for it. At the time I thought it was Gap insurance because the finance manager advertised it as that.
And this is why I say it is my fault also because if I had read all the documents I was signing instead of taking the dealer at their word then I wouldnt have been in that predicament to begin with.
All the paperwork I had signed was blank. Like I said, I was ready to go. We had been there for hours. The lights were out. I was ready to go and just didnt read all the paperwork. But at the same time, they did not complete the paperwork. They just had me sign everything and was going to provide the paperwork a couple days later.
Well after 3 weeks have passed and multiple emails asking for my paperwork I finally get it in the mail and notice the additional charge of $1600 for that stupid (advertised as Gap) 3rd party warranty.
I then called the dealership. Spoke with the finance manager. He was rude. Basically said sorry and tough ****. Then spoke with the GM. He said since I have bought 4 new cars in my past I should know to read everything. He says he will try to take care of the issue. I met with him a day later and he offers $800 back.
I left to think on it and read that i have 10 days to cancel the additional warranty. Although it has been past 10 days since I bought the car, it has only been a few days since I received my paperwork. I emailed the GM this and CC'd the owner. They agreed to fully refund my $1600 since I was within 10 days. So I got my money back but I am paying interest on the $1600.
The lesson I learned: Don't believe what anyone at a dealership tells you. They will say anything. Read everything before signing.Don't leave without all paperwork. If its late at night then just come back fresh the next day.
All in all a terrible experience and I will never go back. I also bought my 08 Eclipse Spyder (new) from Westloop Mitsu SA. So they tried to pull a fast one on a repeat customer as well. I thought it was just all my fault for not reading the paperwork and letting their finance manager slip a quick one on me. And again it pretty much was. But as I start reading dealership reviews I realized they did this to other customers. So this is just what this dealership will do if you provide them with the opportunity. If your in SA I would stay way from them and Gillman. All 3 of our dealerships are terrible here.

If anyone cares to read about my wonderful experience with Gillman and Westloop, I posted it in the Club 4G also.

Same exact thing happen to me. On the fone i told them that i was mulling over the purchase and wanted to drive it to see if it was worth 40,000 dollars. I said i will be purchasing within 3 months. Was very up front about it. They called me a week later and said its 65 degrees today would be a great day to test drive it. I get there and no test drive. i was angry and complained about it. Even the day i bought it the first time i drove it was when i took it off the lot. As i was signing my papers the sales manager says to me, " do you know how many times kids and adults alike come in here to test evos". I then completly agreed with him. i didnt want my evo test drove or joyriden! I guess thats what u get when u buy suchan iconic sports car!
